The drama happened aboard an IndiGo flight with 227 people onboard as it flew from Delhi to Srimagar.
The plane encountered extreme weather conditions about 45 minutes into its journey, prompting the pilot to alert Air Traffic Control (ATC) Srinagar of an emergency, according to a report on news.com
Passengers aboard the flight described moments of sheer panic as the turbulence rocked the aircraft violently, with hailstorm impact reportedly causing minor internal damage.
Overhead lockers were flung open, sending luggage flying about the cabin, and several passengers could be heard praying as the drama unfolded.
The plane safely touched down at Srinagar Airport at 6.30pm local time but with a huge hole clearly visible in its nose cone, apparently due to a bird strike mid-flight during the weather event.
ATC Srinagar said all passengers and crew were safe and the aircraft has since been designated AOG (Aircraft on Ground) for further inspection by the airline.
