Qantas has unveiled the designer behind its next uniform, appointing acclaimed Australian fashion house Rebecca Vallance to create a new look for the Spirit of Australia.

The project marks the airline’s first major uniform overhaul in more than a decade and comes at a defining moment in its transformation. The new design will launch in 2027, coinciding with the Flying Kangaroo’s largest-ever fleet renewal and the highly anticipated rollout of Project Sunrise ultra-long-haul services.

Earlier this year, more than 17,500 Qantas team members across cabins, cockpits, engineering hangars and airports were invited to share feedback on what they need most from a uniform—comfort, durability and functionality topping the list. Vallance will now take these insights into the design phase.

Qantas Group CEO Vanessa Hudson said the redesign would symbolise a new era for the airline:
“Our uniform represents the Qantas spirit all over the world. We’re proud to be working with Rebecca Vallance to define the new look and reflect where Qantas is heading. We want the design to reflect the pride our team feel when they wear it, and it will be shaped by them every step of the way.”

For Vallance, whose designs are celebrated for their modern sophistication, the commission is a milestone:
“To be entrusted with this redesign is a huge moment for me personally and for my brand. My vision is to create something iconic yet wearable, celebrating the people who make this airline such a beloved part of Australia’s story.”

The new uniforms will replace Martin Grant’s 2014 designs, adding Vallance to a distinguished list of Qantas uniform creators that includes Peter Morrissey, Yves Saint Laurent, George Gross and Harry Who, and Emilio Pucci.
