International Rail, Australasia’s dedicated global rail booking specialist, has recorded the strongest sales month in its 21‑year history.
June delivered a company‑record result and signalled a powerful rebound in international rail demand.
The Melbourne‑based, locally owned and operated rail wholesaler is celebrating 21 years in market this year and owner and managing director Jonathan Hume (pictured) says 2026 is shaping up to be the business’s biggest revenue year on record.
“After a softer March–May period due to traveller uncertainty around the Middle East, June has surged back,” Mr Hume said.
“Sales were approximately 30% higher than the previous three months, marking a significant recovery in our traditional peak season.”
Mr Hume said the uplift reflects strengthening European demand, strong response to recent Eurail promotions and growing traction across the company’s expanding global portfolio.
“Our broader international offering continues to perform exceptionally well. Japan and Amtrak are now available to book online and that accessibility is driving new growth,” he added.
He commented that the result is the product of sustained team effort, rising consumer appetite for rail and the company’s strategic expansion since reopening post‑COVID.
“We’re now five times larger than we were pre‑pandemic. The combination of rail’s global resurgence and our investment in online capability and product range has put us in a very strong position.”
