When I arrived in Adelaide for MTA’s 25th anniversary conference, the pre-conference training was the perfect way to ease in before all the celebrations began.
It was a chance to sit down, learn something new and have real conversations with other agents who understand the day-to-day of what we do.
Over three days, I went to a mix of sessions that covered both the practical side of running a business and ways to improve what we offer our clients.
One of the first was a session with our head office BDMs on small business basics, things like financial planning, customer management and keeping track of where our bookings are coming from.
It was straightforward, useful and gave me a few ideas I can put into practice straight away.
The Cruise Masterclass with CLIA’s Peter Kollar and Rhona Rodgers was another favourite.
I book a lot of cruises already, but it was good to hear what’s coming up in the industry and get a refresher on the CLIA training tools we have available. I left feeling more confident about promoting cruise holidays to my clients.
We also had a really practical session on Travelport. It covered quick tips to make the most of its features and tools helping us to streamline our work.
I came away with tips I can use straight away to work more efficiently, deliver better results for clients and keep my business running smoothly.
In between the training, there were plenty of chats over tea and coffee. It was great to swap stories, compare notes and pick up little tips from other agents. Those conversations were just as valuable as the sessions themselves.
Once the main conference began, the energy stepped up another notch.
The keynote speakers were inspiring and covered everything from industry trends to personal stories that reminded us why we do what we do.
The gala dinners were a real highlight, beautifully put together, full of laughter and a great way to celebrate MTA’s 25 years in style.
Sitting around the table with fellow agents, sharing a glass of wine and a few laughs, was the perfect way to end each day.
By the time I flew home, I felt like I’d gained so much, new skills, fresh ideas and stronger connections with my MTA family.
It was a special week of learning, inspiration and celebration and I’m already looking forward to the next one!
