Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has released its new River Cruise Spotlight Sessions, giving members insight into the latest trends and developments in river cruising through a series of online videos.

Recorded live in front of an audience of CLIA travel agent members, the Spotlight Session help mark River Week as part of Cruise Month and are designed to assist travel agents in understanding the growing opportunities available in river cruising.

Twelve videos are now available, including a series of five-minute Spotlight Sessions presented by representatives from 10 different CLIA river cruise lines.

Each cruise line gives a fast-paced explanation of their brand and its key points of difference, including latest developments and selling opportunities.

The videos also include two panel discussions in which river cruise experts explore themes in greater depth:

  • Selling the River Difference: How to match the right client to the right river brand – moderated by CLIA Managing Director in Australasia Joel Katz, featuring Birgit Eisbrenner, (A-Rosa River Cruises), Karenne Norling (CroisiEurope), Cathy Page (Emerald Cruises), Susie Coughlin (Riverside Luxury Cruises), and Amanda Todd (Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours).
  • Beyond the Ship: Unlocking river destinations and experiences – moderated by CLIA Head of International Training & Development Peter Kollar, featuring Steve Richards (AmaWaterways), Rashelle Thompson (APT), Darren Sinclair (Avalon Waterways), Helen Eves (Tauck), and Alice Ager (Uniworld Boutique River Cruises).

Joel Katz, CLIA Managing Director in Australasia, said the videos would help travel agents gain a greater understanding of river cruising and the leading operators in this segment.

“River Cruising is experiencing an enormous amount of development and innovation, so these videos are a great opportunity to learn more about one of the most dynamic areas of cruising,” Mr Katz said.

“Audience members have been able to ask questions and shape the conversation, helping to make these recordings more interactive and relevant for travel agents.”

The Spotlight Sessions can now be accessed via the Cruise Month Toolkit in the CLIA Members Hub.
