Spring is one of the most rewarding times to explore Australia by bike, with wildflowers in bloom, vineyards coming to life and mild temperatures making for ideal cycling conditions across the country.
Erin Wileman, Brand Manager, Australian Cycle Tours, said many regions were at their most picturesque during the season.
“Whether you are looking for a short gourmet escape or a longer cycling journey through regional Australia, it is an ideal season to get out and explore,” Ms Wileman said.
Five standout spring itineraries span the country. In New South Wales, the self-guided Mudgee Cycle Short Break rolls through rolling countryside past vineyards, farms and cellar doors in one of Australia’s premier food and wine regions.
In South Australia, the Clare Valley Short Cycle Break follows sections of the Riesling Trail through historic villages and renowned wineries as the vines awaken for the growing season.
Victoria’s Murray to the Mountains Rail Trail Short Break starts in historic Beechworth and winds through the Victorian Alps via the charming towns of Myrtleford and Bright.
In Queensland, the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail traces a historic railway line through farming communities, forests and welcoming country towns.
In Western Australia, the six-day guided Munda Biddi Southern Cycle travels between Albany and Walpole through towering Jarrah, Karri and Tingle forests along one of the world’s great cycling trails.
