Air China and Singapore Airlines have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a commercial joint venture partnership, deepening their collaboration to offer customers more travel options, greater value and enhanced frequent flyer benefits between Singapore and China.

Goh Choon Phong, Singapore Airlines CEO, said the partnership would strengthen connectivity across both networks.

“Together, we will offer customers more travel options, seamless connections and enhanced convenience on flights between Singapore and China and across our combined networks. Closer cooperation on services and frequent flyer programmes will further enhance the travel experience and create greater value for our customers,” Mr Goh said.

Qu Guangji, Air China President, said the partnership would build on a solid foundation of existing Star Alliance cooperation.

“We will further deepen our bilateral partnership, broaden the scope of codeshare arrangements, enhance frequent flyer programme synergies and vigorously promote our joint venture initiatives,” Mr Qu said.

The agreement covers potential expansion of codeshare services to additional destinations between Singapore and mainland China, within China and beyond, alongside coordinated flight schedules, joint fare products and joint marketing arrangements.

The two airlines also plan to deepen cooperation between Air China’s PhoenixMiles and Singapore Airlines’ KrisFlyer programmes, enabling members to earn and redeem miles across both carriers.

The airlines have codeshared on selected flights since 2016, currently covering services between Singapore and Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing and Shanghai. All new initiatives are subject to regulatory approval.
