Building on the success of their inaugural voyage last year, PONANT Explorations and polar consultancy SEDNA are offering two Greenland expeditions next April.

Both departures sail aboard Le Commandant Charcot, the world’s only luxury icebreaker, which is uniquely capable of accessing Greenland’s High Arctic coastline in spring when pack ice makes it inaccessible to conventional vessels.

The voyages are designed around genuine immersion in Inuit life, with activities conceived and led by the inhabitants of the village of Kullorsuaq.

Experiences include dog sledding into the polar wilderness, kayaking, ice fishing, ski touring with a pulka and overnight stays in traditional Inuit tents on the sacred site of Nunanutaat.

Guests can also spend a night in an expedition tent on the pack ice alongside researchers working on marine biology, glaciology and climatology.

Nicolas Dubreuil, SEDNA co-founder and member of The Explorers Club, said the encounters leave a lasting impression on guests.

“They challenged themselves and discovered the true spirit of this wonderful people, masters of adaptation,” Mr Dubreuil said.

The first departure, ‘Encounter with the Last Guardians of the North Pole’, runs from April 4 to 16, 2027, and is priced from $27,310 per person.

The second, ‘Beyond the Inhabited World’, runs from April 16 to 28, 2027, and is priced from $32,951 per person. Both can be booked back-to-back with a 10 per cent saving on the first voyage.

For new bookings made before May 31, guests may modify or postpone their cruise free of charge.
