Travel advisors have gathered for a trade event focused on South American travel, air connectivity and small group touring.

The Adelaide event was co-hosted by Bunnik Tours, LATAM Airlines and Sydney Airport.

Representatives shared destination updates and discussed the region’s growing popularity among Australian travellers.

Guests also learned about flight connections to Santiago and more than 140 destinations across LATAM’s South American network.

Bunnik Tours presented itineraries covering Peru, Argentina, Brazil and less visited locations, alongside a pisco sour demonstration. The programme also included South American food, destination quizzes, networking and prize draws.

Shane Hodges, Sydney Airport General Manager Strategic Aviation Development, said the Australia to South America market reached almost 600,000 passengers during the past year, rising 12.8%. More than 219,000 Australian residents visited the continent during that period.

The event launched a wider trade campaign, including an incentive offering one travel advisor a place on a 20-day Peru Explorer tour with return international LATAM flights.
