The recently renovated Cour des Loges Lyon in France is part of the luxury Radisson Collection. We asked General Manager YVES GRARDEL what the hotel offers visiting Australians.
Q: What are your hopes for the hotel now that it has just reopened?
A: After a long period of closure, it is important to make this Lyon jewel shine again. Travellers from around the world will once again have the opportunity to experience this iconic destination.
Our commitment to excellence will ensure that every guest enjoys a service of the highest calibre, befitting the prestige of this esteemed property and exceeding the expectations of our discerning clientele.
The anticipation surrounding our reopening is immense and we embrace the responsibility of reaffirming our position as the city’s premier five-star hotel.
Q: What type of guest does your hotel cater for?
A: The hotel is a natural choice for bon vivants who appreciate gastronomic delights and exploring the rich history and architectural marvels of the destination they’re in.
With a Michelin starred, fine dining restaurant led by Chef Anthony Bonnet, ancient Roman bath inspired spa facilities and a location in the centre of a UNESCO World Heritage site, Cour des Loges is a sanctuary for couples looking for a luxurious, relaxing and culturally immersive getaway.
Q: What are some of the stand out facilities that guests can enjoy?
A: Blending classic Renaissance style with contemporary amenities and fabrics, the completely upgraded Radisson Collection property offers elegant and stylish living spaces in the heart of Lyon’s historic town.
There are 61 beautifully designed rooms and suites featuring intricate woodwork, renowned art pieces, lush bedding and refined colour palettes.
Our renowned restaurant Les Loges, spearheaded by Chef Bonnet, has already made waves in the local dining scene, with guests able to dine beneath a stunning glass canopy and savour the finest French cuisine.
The hotel also boasts a pool, hot tub under a glass skylight, sauna, mosaic hammam and a superb relaxation room adorned with a fresco as well as private spa treatment rooms.
The hotel also features six spaces for professional events, from full day workshops, conferences, meetings and seminars to product launches, cocktails, soirée dinners and showrooms.
Q: Your dining options are clearly outstanding.
A: Set inside a Florentine courtyard and surrounded by a dazzling 17-metre-high glass canopy, Les Loges is destination dining at its best.
Open for breakfast and later transforming into a gastronomic restaurant, Les Loges merges the romance of Renaissance-era dining with modern techniques. Think foie gras, tomato confit and Chef Bonnet’s signature pigeon recipe.
Le Comptoir offers simple, rustic dining at its best in a charming bistro restaurant. Proudly authentic and undeniably convivial, Le Comptoir honours light, seasonal produce as much as it does rich indulgences. A selection of local wines perfectly matches the shaded outdoor terrace setting.
Q: What is there for guests to do around your hotel?
A: Continuing to charm visitors with its cobblestone alleyways, secret courtyards and iconic traboules, Lyon is truly a sight to behold.
Stroll around the Old Town, visiting landmarks such as Basilique Fourvière and Place des Jacobins or walk along the River Saône.
Based in the centre of the Old City, Cour des Loges has bustling neighbourhood bistros, boutiques and galleries right on the doorstep.
Q: What sustainability initiatives does the hotel employ?
A: Our goal is to achieve Green Key certification by fully integrating Radisson Hotel Group’s sustainable initiatives.
A cornerstone of our commitment to sustainability lies in our gastronomic restaurant, where we source exclusively from local artisans, ensuring the highest quality ingredients while supporting the community and reducing our environmental footprint.
Q: Finally, what sets your hotel apart from others in the location?
A: The four buildings that make up the hotel were originally built as houses for the local merchants, bankers and printers, with some of the walls dating as far back as 1341.
Nearly 700 years later, the walls are still standing and have been meticulously preserved throughout the renovations.
Cour des Loges, meaning ‘Court of Lodges’ in French, features a central courtyard at the heart of the property, connecting the four centuries-old terracotta red buildings. It is in this stone courtyard that Les Loges resides, the jewel in the hotel’s crown.
For an avid epicurean, it doesn’t get much better than dining in a renowned restaurant in the very birthplace of Michelin stars.
