Perth’s vibrant cocktail scene is getting a shakeup with a new weekend-long mixology festival set to put Perth on the map globally. Perth Cocktail Weekend, a highlight event in this year’s Plateful Perth 2024 program, will see three of Perth’s leading cocktail bars – Songbird Bar, Terrarium, and Mechanics Institute – taken over by the World’s 50 Best Bars from around the globe for one weekend only from 9th to 10th August.

As part of the festival, guests will be able to sample the artistry of three cocktails curated by talented bartenders from Galaxy Bar, Dubai (#50) at Songbird; Salmon Guru, Madrid (#16) at Terrarium; and Maybe Sammy (#15) x El Primo Sanchez – at Mechanics Institute.

Launching as part of the foodie festival Plateful Perth, a month long celebration of eating and drinking in the City of Light, created by the City of Perth with over 65 exclusive events, experiences, and offers throughout August. Perth Cocktail Weekend will elevate Perth’s mixology experiences at a time when food and drink is at the forefront for the city’s locals and tourists. Perth Cocktail Weekend will add an exciting opportunity to experience cocktail creations from award-winning mixologists around the globe.

An initiative spearheaded by Marco Barsotti, Beverage & Bars Manager at The Ritz-Carlton, Perth, Perth Cocktail Weekend offers an exciting opportunity for Perth locals and visitors alike to experience an all-new calibre of mixology featuring global talent.

“At Songbird, we take care to craft each cocktail into a masterpiece, and across the city there are many bars who are doing incredible things in mixology but it is still an undiscovered scene. With Perth Cocktail Weekend we set out to showcase a scale of mixology that has never before been seen in Perth and in doing so make waves in the community and build the city’s reputation as serious contenders on the mixology scene”, said Marco.

Mixologists from the three participating bars will be flying in from across the globe to take part in Perth Cocktail Weekend at a series of events and masterclasses where local bartenders and other industry professionals will be able to network and learn to elevate their craft from the world’s best.
