Cruise Month turns the spotlight on river cruising this week, highlighting the increasingly diverse choice of travel options along the world’s great inland waterways.
Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has launched the second of its weekly themes for its October Cruise Month initiative, celebrating river cruising and its rise as one of the most rewarding ways to travel.
“River cruising is one of the most dynamic areas in travel right now, and we’re seeing a huge amount of innovation and investment as a result,” said Joel Katz, CLIA Executive Director in Australasia.
“Cruise lines are introducing spectacular new ships, while new operators are entering the market and new experiences are being offered to give travellers a greater connection with the destinations they visit. A lot is happening in river cruising right now.”
This year’s Cruise Month campaign again follows four weekly themes – Ocean Cruising, River Cruising, Expedition Cruising and Luxury Cruising.
Under the banner #LoveCruise, activities will showcase the huge diversity of cruise lines and experiences available in each category and highlight the advantages of booking a cruise through a CLIA-certified travel agent.
CLIA will mount an extensive social media campaign for this year’s Cruise Month, aimed at new-to-cruise travellers as well as established cruising fans.
Through a rolling program of imagery and videos on Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram, the campaign will invite travellers to explore cruise options through their local CLIA-certified travel agent.
CLIA travel agent members have been equipped with a Cruise Month toolkit that includes the latest promotions and opportunities available from cruise lines.
They will also be able to join an expanded program of Cruise Month training webinars to ensure they have the latest insight as they plan their clients’ travel.
Australian travellers can visit www.cruising.org.au and use the Find a Cruise Specialist search function to connect with a CLIA cruise specialist travel agent in their local area.
