Kiama (pictured below) took out gold for the second year in a row in the ‘Top Tourism Town’ category, reaffirming its place as one of the most loved coastal destinations in the state.

Shellharbour was awarded silver and Ballina received bronze, backing up its silver win in 2024.

Newcastle, which claimed bronze last year, secured the ‘NRMA People’s Choice Award’, showcasing its growing popularity with visitors.

Merimbula earned gold in the ‘Small Tourism Town’ category after placing silver in 2024, demonstrating its continued rise as a premier South Coast destination.

Robertson was awarded silver and also claimed the ‘NRMA People’s Choice Award’, while Gloucester took bronze, replicating its 2024 podium finish.

The awards are the culmination of a submission process that demonstrates excellence in tourism storytelling, visitor appeal and community collaboration.

They also include a consumer element – incorporating reviews and votes for people’s favourite destinations.

“It is fantastic to see so many of our regional towns return stronger each year, refining their visitor experiences and showcasing their unique stories with pride,” said Natalie Godward, Chief Executive Officer of NSW Tourism Association.

“These awards reflect the depth and resilience of regional tourism, especially after the last few years of challenges.”

In the ‘Tiny Tourism Town’ category, Huskisson once again impressed judges, securing gold for the second consecutive year, following its 2024 state and national titles.

Broke earned silver for the second year running and Millthorpe claimed bronze as well as the ‘NRMA People’s Choice Award’, affirming strong community and visitor support.

All gold-winning towns will go on to represent New South Wales at the 2025 Australian Top Tourism Town Awards in Canberra later this year.
