The trip took place ahead of the Flight Centre Global Gathering and included a number of hotel inspections and culinary excursions.
Dinners at local favourites FIG, Sirena, Terraza, Bar Chloe and Orla, the new and Mediterranean-inspired restaurant at Regent Santa Monica Beach, led by acclaimed Chef Michael Mina, helped the group experience the city the way an Aussie traveller would; relaxed, curious
There was no shortage of hotel inspiration either, with site inspections at The Georgian Hotel, Santa Monica Proper Hotel, Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows and newly opened Regent Santa Monica Beach.
The group explored the varied hotel scene with more than 40 hotels, including two new openings and over $200 million in recent upgrades, elevating Santa Monica’s accommodation offering.
“With easy access to Los Angeles, eight unique neighbourhoods, an exceptional portfolio of exceptional hotels and more than 400 restaurants, it’s no surprise that Aussies feel right at home here,” said Misti Kerns, President & CEO of Santa Monica Travel & Tourism.
Astrid Richardson, Global General Manager at Envoyage, was struck by Santa Monica’s laid-back luxury, calling it a destination that caters to every type of traveller.
“Santa Monica offers an impressive array of accommodations, from landmark beachfront hotels to modern, design-led properties with a strong focus on wellness, ensuring there’s something to suit every taste and travel style.”
The visit is part of SMTT’s ongoing work with trade partners in Australia, with more opportunities planned in the months ahead.
