South Coast Cruise & Travel in Nowra has rejoined Travellers Choice after what Managing Director Lindy Herron describes as a “professional gap year” designed to reassess and refocus her business.

Herron, who began her career in intensive care and emergency nursing before purchasing South Coast Cruise & Travel in 2001, first joined the Travellers Choice network in 2007. In 2024, she stepped back temporarily to evaluate what drives sustainable growth and profitability in an evolving travel industry.

“Taking time out allowed me to objectively assess what delivers genuine commercial value,” Herron said. She found that Travellers Choice offers the kind of structure and support that independent agencies need to thrive. “The group provides a strong financial framework, competitive override structures and a cost-effective model that directly supports profitability,” she added.

Herron also praised the network’s marketing expertise, supplier relationships and strategic leadership, noting that these strengths translate into “tangible commercial advantages” for members.

“As an independent agency, being aligned with a forward-thinking network enhances both our margins and our credibility,” she said.

South Coast Cruise & Travel becomes the fourth agency to return to Travellers Choice in the past year, following Perth-based Au Revoir Travel & Cruise, which rejoined in 2025 after a 15-year absence. Herron said the warm relationship between her agency and the national network made her decision to return an easy one.

“Travellers Choice left the door wide open for me to return, so there was no hesitation when the time was right,” she said.
