Travelmarvel has celebrated its first Murray River cruise aboard the beautifully restored PS Emmylou.
The vessel is a recreation of the classic 19th-century paddlesteamers that were once a feature along the Murray River.
Originally launched in 1982 and thoughtfully refurbished in 2018, this intimate ship offers just 16 guests the rare opportunity to cruise the river in comfort and style.
With eight deluxe cabins featuring private ensuites, balconies and modern amenities including complimentary Wi-Fi and climate control, guests can enjoy a nostalgic yet deluxe experience.
The maiden Travelmarvel sailing commenced on August 12, taking travellers on a journey through picturesque landscapes and charming river towns.
Guests have the chance to relax on deck, share meals prepared by an onboard chef using fresh local produce and enjoy riverside barbecues under the stars.
“We are thrilled to bring this magnificent old paddle steamer back to the Murray River and finally seeing these happy travellers onboard? That’s what this business is all about,” said David Cox, CEO of Travelmarvel.
“We’re really excited about creating a small group cruise experience aboard a boutique paddle steamer that embodies authentic Australian heritage.
“This is going to be an outstanding Murray River experience and we couldn’t be prouder to be the only operator offering it on the PS EmmyLou.”
The highlight of the PS EmmyLou season is the eight-day ‘Reflections of the Murray River’, travelling Melbourne to Adelaide.
It includes a five-day Murray river cruise with a guided tour of Perricoota Station and visits to rural towns like Echuca. After the cruise, journey on to Swan Hill, World-Heritage listed Mungo National Park and South Australia’s renowned Barossa Valley.
Prices start at $5,795 per person.
