Virgin Australia has officially re-entered the booming holiday packages market, unveiling Virgin Australia Holidays as travellers increasingly seek bundled, value-driven escapes.
The relaunched platform allows customers to book flights and accommodation together in a single transaction, marking a major expansion of the airline’s leisure offering beyond air travel.
Developed in partnership with travel technology company Hopper, the new venture comes amid strong consumer demand for simpler and more affordable holiday planning options.
New research commissioned by Virgin Australia and conducted by YouGov found 75 per cent of Australians are more likely to book a holiday package through their preferred airline when competitive deals are available, while half of respondents said they were actively seeking easier and more time-efficient ways to organise holidays.
Virgin Australia Holidays originally launched in 2003 before being discontinued during the pandemic in 2020. Its return signals renewed confidence in Australia’s leisure travel sector as airlines look to diversify revenue streams beyond flights alone.
To celebrate the relaunch, Virgin Australia Holidays has unveiled a nationwide sale featuring bundled domestic and international packages from $745 per person, including return Economy Choice flights and four nights’ accommodation in Bali.
Deals include:
- Gold Coast to Bali from $745 per person
- Canberra to Bali from $779 per person
- Melbourne to Bali from $819 per person
- Sydney to Bali from $845 per person
- Brisbane to Bali from $889 per person
Domestic holiday packages to Cairns are also on sale, with prices starting from $820 per person from Brisbane.
Velocity Frequent Flyer members will also be able to earn and redeem Velocity Points on holiday packages, alongside earning Status Credits on eligible flights.
Virgin Australia Chief Marketing and Customer Operations Officer Libby Minogue said the launch reflected changing traveller expectations.
“Virgin Australia Holidays marks an important step in expanding our offering beyond flights and into a more complete travel experience,” Minogue said.
“With more Australians seeking value and convenience, we’re bringing together flights, accommodation and Velocity benefits in one seamless booking experience, delivering greater value and at a time when cost of living remains front of mind.”
Packages are on sale until 27 May 2026 for selected travel periods through to March 2027, unless sold out earlier.
