Footy fans can score flights from just $49 one way after Virgin Australia renewed its partnership with the AFL through to 2030.
The sale, launched ahead of the 2026 Toyota AFL Premiership season, is designed to capitalise on surging demand for interstate footy travel, with more than half a million fans flying to matches last year alone.
Discounted fares are available on selected domestic routes for travel between 23 February and 30 June 2026, covering key fixtures and major events across the AFL calendar. Tickets are on sale until 11.00pm AEST on Saturday 7 February 2026, unless sold out earlier.
Virgin Australia said fan travel to AFL games is expected to grow in double digits over the next five years, driven by rising attendance and a packed national events schedule including Gather Round and the Finals Series.
The renewed five year agreement will see all 19 AFL and AFLW clubs continue to fly exclusively with Virgin Australia, extending a partnership that began in 2011.
Virgin Australia chief executive Dave Emerson said the airline has seen strong demand from Australians travelling for live sport and events.
Footy is stitched into Australian culture, and we are proud to connect fans to the games that matter, he said, adding the airline would continue to increase capacity around major fixtures.
The AFL said the partnership would help deliver more affordable travel options for supporters following their teams across the country.
Virgin Australia operated more domestic flights than any other Australian airline during the 2025 AFL and AFLW seasons, boosting services around peak travel periods and marquee matches.
