Five people were injured when a “donut” boat crashed on a popular Indonesian beach.

The incident happened at Pantai Ammani, a coastal tourism spot in Pinrang Regency, South Sulawesi.

The inflatable was being towed by a speedboat when the operator attempted a turn too close to the shoreline, sending the craft flying into the air before slamming onto the sand, ejecting all five tourists aboard. Visitors, including children on the beach, were also caught up in the accident.

Graphic video footage of the crash, later shared widely across social media platforms, showed the moment the inflatable flipped and its riders were hurled forward, some falling over other visitors who had been watching from the beach.

All five tourists were immediately taken for medical evaluation at a nearby health clinic but were released after treatment.

Following the accident, tourism officials in Mattirotasi Village and local authorities issued a public apology and confirmed that the matter is under investigation.

Officials pledged to strengthen safety protocols, improve operator training and work with regional tourism offices to prevent similar incidents in the future.
