Sunrise weather presenter Sam Mac will be broadcasting live from South Africa this week, supported by Intrepid Travel and South African Tourism.

The five-day initiative will see the TV presenter take viewers on a journey across the Rainbow Nation – from safaris in Kruger National Park and wine tasting in the Cape Winelands to exploring Soweto’s nightlife and culture.

Along the way he’ll meet some of the passionate local leaders and communities that make South Africa such a unique destination.

“It’s a destination full of culture, wildlife and incredible people and this collaboration is a great way to show how travel done right can make a real difference,” said Yvette Thompson, Intrepid Travel’s General Manager ANZ.

Sam will also meet the Black Mambas, an all-female anti-poaching unit supported by Helping Rhinos, The Intrepid Foundation’s South African NGO partner.

“Intrepid’s commitment to create positive change through the joy of travel directly aligns with South African Tourism’s values as a destination globally recognised for its conservation initiatives – not to mention there’s no better place to find joy than in South Africa!” said Yana Shvarts, South African Tourism’s Acting Hub Head Australasia.

“Moreover, with this objective in mind, the unique community and conservation-focused experiences Intrepid offer create meaningful and entertaining experiences for Sam to discover.

“We’re sure Australian audiences will be both engaged and inspired as they follow Sam live on his journey.”

The broadcast also coincides with Intrepid’s annual Black Friday Sale, with 20% off selected South Africa trips.
