New research has revealed Australia’s most photographed hotels to determine which properties are dominating travel feeds in 2026.
Conducted by Sovereign Interiors, the study analysed Instagram location tags across 126 hotels nationwide.
The Calile Hotel in Brisbane topped the list with nearly 86,000 Instagram location tags, ahead of established luxury properties in Melbourne and Sydney.
Interior stylist Cayley Scrooby said the hotels topping the rankings shared a clear design philosophy.
“The most photographed hotels aren’t just destinations, they’re carefully designed interiors that translate beautifully on and off camera. Each space tells a story, whether through its palette, materials, or how it responds to light,” Ms Scrooby said.
The Calile Hotel came out on top with 85,695 tags, its warm palette of stone, clay and timber and resort-style pool creating what Ms Scrooby describes as a rare balance between refined luxury and tactile human comfort.
The Langham Melbourne followed with 68,622 tags, its polished marble floors and classical symmetry delivering what Ms Scrooby calls spatial poetry.
Four Seasons Sydney came in third with 57,873 tags, praised for its understated restraint that lets the harbour views take centre stage.

Rounding out the top five are Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour with 57,326 tags and Sofitel Melbourne on Collins with 51,178 tags, both celebrated for their dialogue between environment and interior detail.
Ms Scrooby said the common thread across all five properties was confidence and cohesion rather than gimmicks, with restrained palettes, natural materials and a strong sense of place consistently outperforming maximalist design on social media.
