The latest statistics from the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) show further monthly and year-on-year increases in Aussie visitor arrivals.

Some 50,200 Australians visited Japan during the month of July this year, a 3.3 per cent increase from the same month last year.

Travellers continue to discover the destination’s diverse mix of unique attractions, interesting historical and cultural experiences, scenery and cuisine.

For the year to date the number of Australian travellers heading to Japan is up by 20.9 per cent, with the total number visiting up until the end of July sitting at 617,400.

“The July figures further underline the exceptional demand for Japan as a destination for a range of travellers, from couples and families to solo and senior travellers,” said Andrew Coombes, JNTO’s Media & Marketing Manager.

“Australians are increasingly visiting new prefectures and into the regions as repeat visitors continue to discover the country’s lesser-known areas of a country that has so much to offer.”
