The journey combined a seven-day land adventure with four days of sailing aboard Koningsdam, Holland America’s (HAL) Pinnacle-class ship.
The itinerary took guests from Anchorage to Denali, Fairbanks, Dawson City, Whitehorse, Skagway, Glacier Bay, Ketchikan and finally through the Inside Passage to Vancouver.
The group was treated to unforgettable experiences such as a clear, unobstructed view of Mt McKinley that only around three per cent of visitors get to experience.
The agents also witnessed grizzly bears walking directly alongside the group’s bus in Denali National Park. In Dawson City, the glow of the Northern Lights and the infamous Sourtoe cocktail were true standouts.
“From the moment we arrived, every detail was thoughtfully planned and seamlessly executed,” said Gareth Evison, General Manager of Australia Imagine Cruising.
“The staff were extremely knowledgeable throughout and the places we visited, wildlife that was spotted, and the breathtaking landscapes I witnessed were as good (if not better) than the imagery in the marketing for this amazing destination.
“I came back inspired with a better understanding of how the land tours worked and, needless to say, they are a must when packaging and selling Alaska Cruises.”
Once onboard Koningsdam, guests were immersed in HAL’s signature service, first-class dining and world-class entertainment while continuing their wilderness encounters at sea.
In Ketchikan, black bears, bald eagles and spawning salmon populated the landscape, while Glacier Bay National Park delivered otters, seals and eagles visible against a backdrop of Margerie Glacier.
“To host such a fantastic group on what will be remembered as a trip of a lifetime was truly an honour,” said Angus Mackay, Strategic Account Manager for Holland America Line.
“From perfect weather to an abundance of wildlife and the majestic Alaskan wilderness, the experience was breathtaking.”
