Fodor’s has revealed its much anticipated Finest Hotels 2026 list, selecting 100 of what it calls the most incredible hotels and resorts worldwide. Only 15 Asian properties made the cut and just one in Thailand : Banyan Tree Krabi.

The US based travel publisher, which has been producing guides since 1949, described its selection process as both brutal and fastidious. Managing editor Rachael Levitt noted that each shortlisted hotel is assessed for service, design, character, amenities and overall comfort.

Levitt, who personally reviewed Banyan Tree Krabi, praised the resort for striking a rare balance between sustainability and luxury.

She highlighted the warmth of Thai hospitality and the dedication of the resort’s team, along with its strong ties to the local community. Cold press coffee from regional producers, a gallery showcasing artisan goods and restaurants that champion both regional dishes and international favourites all stood out during her visit.

Situated on peaceful Tubkaek Beach about 40 kilometres from Krabi International Airport, the resort enjoys a setting framed by a lush hillside and dramatic limestone formations that rise from the Andaman Sea. This backdrop, paired with the resort’s low key atmosphere, was among the attributes that caught the attention of Fodor’s editors.

General manager Haruethai Maneerat said the recognition was a great honour for the whole team and a tribute to the Banyan Tree brand.

Sustainability remains one of the resort’s most distinctive strengths. Led by sustainability manager and marine biologist Thepsuda Loyjiw, Banyan Tree Krabi has introduced a range of initiatives to minimise waste, reduce consumption and safeguard natural resources. Partnerships with local producers and craftspeople are central to the programme. One example is Souvenirs from the Sea, which sees beach waste collected and transformed into items such as tote bags that are sold at Banyan Tree Gallery Krabi.

The accolade from Fodor’s follows another milestone in October when the resort received Two Keys from MICHELIN in its annual assessment of hotels across Thailand.

Banyan Tree Krabi features 72 pool suites and villas, including seven two bedroom options, a three bedroom villa and a seven bedroom Presidential Beachfront Pool Villa. Facilities include two restaurants and a beach bar, a beach club, a kids club, a fitness centre, meeting rooms and a rainforest themed spa.
