The Intrepid Foundation, the not for profit arm of Intrepid Travel, has distributed $3.4 million to grassroots organisations around the world in 2025, marking its largest year of global giving.

According to the organisation’s latest Impact Report, the funding supported 58 community projects across 45 countries. The milestone also takes the Foundation’s total funds distributed since its launch in 2002 to more than $20 million.

The 2025 contributions were supported by more than 16,000 donors, including almost 10,000 travellers who participated in Intrepid trips. Funding was directed towards initiatives focused on food security, environmental protection, refugee support and economic development.

Projects supported during the year included food assistance programs in Jordan, environmental initiatives in Sri Lanka and community support for refugee and migrant mothers in Greece.

Biheng Zhang, General Manager of The Intrepid Foundation, said the organisation focuses on supporting locally led solutions.

“No one understands a community’s challenges better than the people working on the ground every day. The impact achieved in 2025 reflects the dedication of these organisations and the support of travellers who want their journeys to contribute positively to the places they visit,” Zhang said.

The Foundation works closely with Intrepid’s regional teams to identify community partners in destinations visited by travellers, helping connect tourism with local initiatives.

In 2026, The Intrepid Foundation aims to raise $4.3 million as it expands its network of community partners and continues supporting projects focused on environmental protection, economic empowerment and social equity.
