Minor Hotels is expanding its presence in New South Wales with three new hotel developments, reinforcing its long term commitment to Australia’s largest visitor economy.
The expansion includes new properties under the NH Collection, NH Hotels and Avani Hotels and Resorts brands, bringing the group’s Australasian portfolio to more than 60 properties.
Craig Hooley, Chief Operating Officer Australasia, Minor Hotels, said the move reflects strong tourism momentum across the state.
“New South Wales continues to demonstrate strong tourism growth, driven by both leisure and business travel, as well as a vibrant events calendar shaping demand for accommodation,” he said.
Hooley added that major events are increasingly influencing travel patterns, with concert periods delivering significantly higher room rates and consistent international touring driving year round demand.
NH Collection and airport growth drive Sydney expansion
Minor Hotels will debut NH Collection Sydney in late 2026, marking the brand’s first Australian property. Located on Wentworth Street, the 256 room hotel will offer an upper upscale experience in the heart of the city, complete with two restaurants and a rooftop bar.
The group will also introduce NH Sydney Airport in 2027, its first NH Hotels property in Australia. Situated in Mascot, close to both domestic and international terminals, the hotel will cater to business and leisure travellers seeking convenient access to key transport hubs.
The development will also see the return of the Sizzler brand to Australia through a partnership with Minor Food.
Coastal growth continues with Avani Wollongong
Beyond Sydney, Minor Hotels is expanding into regional New South Wales with the launch of Avani Wollongong Hotel, scheduled to open in 2027.
Located near the city’s transport hub and beachfront, the 107 room property will bring contemporary, design led accommodation to one of the state’s fastest growing coastal destinations. The hotel will feature vibrant social spaces and a ground floor restaurant focused on locally inspired cuisine.
The expansion aligns with broader infrastructure developments, including the Western Sydney Airport project, which is expected to strengthen connectivity and further boost visitor demand across the state.
With these new openings, Minor Hotels continues to position itself to meet growing demand while supporting the evolution of New South Wales as a leading global destination.
