Virgin Voyages has officially launched its long-awaited Alaska season, giving travel advisors a new way to tap into one of cruising’s hottest destinations — with a kid-free twist.
The adults-only cruise line has begun sailing from Seattle aboard the new-look Brilliant Lady, bringing fresh entertainment, Alaska-inspired dining and immersive local programming to the Pacific Northwest.
For travel advisors, or “First Mates” in Virgin speak, the move also expands the brand’s selling power, with the line continuing to offer 16 per cent commission and no non-commissionable fares (NCFs).
Alaska has long been one of the world’s most in-demand cruise markets, but Virgin Voyages believes its design-led, adults-only approach gives agents a clear point of difference for clients seeking something beyond the traditional family-focused experience.
The new season introduces a range of Alaska-exclusive experiences onboard, including new Happenings Cast characters such as “The Lumberjack” and “The Naturalist”, alongside Cultural Heritage Guides from Alaska Native Voices.
Guests can also take part in new themed activities including wildlife sketching classes, Alaska-inspired cocktail workshops, trivia nights and destination storytelling sessions designed to deepen the connection to the region.
Virgin Voyages says the expansion answers growing demand from its loyal repeat guests, with more than 30 per cent of Sailors returning for multiple voyages and increasingly requesting more itinerary variety and a West Coast departure option.
The cruise line has also leaned heavily into sustainability messaging for the Alaska launch, highlighting partnerships with sustainable shore excursion operators, onboard wildlife experts and voluntary ship speed reductions designed to protect marine life.
Culinary experiences are another major focus, with Alaska-inspired dishes rolling out across the ship’s restaurants. Highlights include pan-roasted Alaskan halibut at The Wake, king crab creations at Pink Agave and smoked salmon taramasalata served at The Dock.
Retail spaces onboard have also been given a Pacific Northwest flavour, featuring regional artisan brands alongside new cold-weather apparel and Alaska-themed merchandise.
Virgin Voyages’ Alaska sailings aboard Brilliant Lady are on sale now, departing from Seattle throughout the season.
First Mates can access resources, training and booking tools through Seacademy and LetsGoBook at virginvoyages.com.
