Adventure World has launched a new seven-night itinerary combining Yellowknife and the remote Blachford Lodge in Canada’s Northwest Territories, priced from $9,439 per person.
The ‘Yellowknife and Blachford Winter Retreat’ is designed for travellers seeking a deeper Arctic winter experience.
The highlight of the itinerary is Blachford Lodge, an off-grid wilderness retreat accessible only by bush plane, set on the shores of Blachford Lake far from any city lights.
Kristy Prince, Adventure World North America Product Manager, said the itinerary delivered a side of Canada most travellers had never considered.
“From the moment you arrive in Yellowknife and fly out to Blachford Lodge, you feel disconnected from the everyday and connected to the landscape around you. There’s something incredibly special about watching the Northern Lights dance overhead from a frozen lake, then coming back inside to the warmth of the lodge,” Ms Prince said.
At the lodge, guests can enjoy two guided activities or workshops daily alongside complimentary use of ice skates, cross-country skis, snowshoes, fat tyre bikes and kick sleds.
Options include skating across the frozen lake, snowshoeing through forest trails, igloo and quinzhee building, and unwinding in an open-air hot tub beneath the stars.
In Yellowknife, a guided Aurora viewing experience at the intimate Skydome, operated by a local Indigenous Dene-owned company, hosts a maximum of 40 guests across three viewing domes, offering a far more personal alternative to larger Aurora attractions.
Indigenous-owned operators also lead the dogsledding experience and city tour, while net ice fishing and hands-on glasswork workshops add a cultural layer to the adventure.
The itinerary pairs seamlessly with Adventure World’s Canadian Rockies winter journeys, with guests able to fly from Calgary, Edmonton or Vancouver to Yellowknife for an Arctic finale.
