Steady growth in travel between the two countries has led Korean Air to launch a new non-stop service between South Korea and Australia.

The airline will fly between Seoul Incheon and Melbourne, operating three times a week from December 18 through March 14, 2027.

The new route complements Korean Air’s year-round operations to Sydney and Brisbane.

The service provides travellers with expanded non-stop options to Australia’s key cultural and business hubs during the peak winter travel period and caters to expanding cultural, business and leisure exchanges between the two countries.

The route will be served by Boeing 787-9 aircraft on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Flight KE409 departs Seoul Incheon at 8am and arrives in Melbourne at 8:30pm.

The return flight, KE410, departs Melbourne at 10pm and arrives at Seoul Incheon at 7:35am the following day.

Flight reservations and detailed schedule information are available on the Korean Air website and mobile app.

Jim Parashos, Melbourne Airport Chief of Aviation, said the airport was thrilled to welcome Korean Air back to Victoria.

“The resumption of Korean Air operations at Melbourne Airport is a great outcome for Victorian travellers and for our tourism and trade ties with South Korea,” he said.

“South Korea is one of the world’s major economies, and a reliable direct connection between Melbourne and Seoul matters for Victorian exporters, for our tourism sector and for the Korean community here in Victoria.

“We look forward to welcoming Korean Air back to Melbourne Airport and seeing this route continue to grow as part of the carrier’s long-haul strategy.”
