A new luxury rail itinerary will combine travel aboard the Danube Express with a private Zeppelin airship flight.

The trip will bring together two historic forms of transport in a 10-day journey across six countries.

Developed by Zeppelin Travel and Helloworld Travel with Golden Eagle Luxury Trains, the itinerary will leave Vienna on June 16, 2027, travelling through Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein, Italy, Slovenia and Hungary.

A highlight will be a private Zeppelin flight from Friedrichshafen in southern Germany, taking guests above Lake Constance and the surrounding landscape at around 1,000 feet.

The experience will also include a private champagne reception, a welcome from Albrecht von Zeppelin, great grandson of inventor Ferdinand von Zeppelin, and an after hours visit to the Zeppelin Museum.

Tim Littler, Golden Eagle Luxury Trains Founder, said the collaboration would give guests an opportunity to experience a form of aviation rarely available to travellers today.

“We are thrilled to be able to take part in and offer guests a very special day during this unique trip exploring Europe,” Mr Littler said.

After Friedrichshafen, the Danube Express continues through Liechtenstein to destinations including Lake Como, Verona, Postojna and Lake Bled before finishing in Budapest.

The package includes ensuite accommodation aboard the train, onboard dining and drinks, excursions, transfers, porterage, gratuities and hotel stays in Vienna and Budapest.

Twin share fares start from $39,899 per person, with limited places available.

Travellers can also add a 12-day Uniworld river cruise from Prague to Paris, priced from an additional $10,399 per person.
