A touring family production featuring life-sized dinosaur puppets will return to Australia this summer, with performances scheduled across seven cities during the December and January school holidays.
Dinosaur World Live will begin its Australian season in Melbourne on December 30 before travelling to Canberra, Wollongong, Sydney, Newcastle, Brisbane and Perth, where the tour concludes on January 31, 2027.
The Olivier Award-winning production follows explorer Miranda on a journey through a prehistoric world, with puppetry bringing a collection of dinosaurs to the stage including Tyrannosaurus Rex, Triceratops, Giraffatitan, Microraptor and Segnosaurus.
Australian producer Andrew Kay said the theatrical format gave younger audiences a different way to engage with dinosaurs beyond books and screens.
“Dinosaurs have this extraordinary ability to capture children’s imaginations and there is something pretty special about watching their faces when these incredible creatures come to life right in front of them,” Mr Kay said.
The show has previously toured the UK, United States, Canada and China and uses puppets created by designer Max Humphries.
Performances run for 55 minutes without an interval and are recommended for children aged three and over.
The Australian season opens at Melbourne’s Comedy Theatre from December 30 to January 3, followed by The Round in Melbourne on January 5 and 6 and Canberra Theatre Centre from January 8 to 10.
Wollongong’s IMB Theatre hosts the production on January 12 and 13, followed by The Concourse in Sydney from January 15 to 17, Newcastle Civic Theatre on January 19 and 20 and Brisbane Powerhouse from January 22 to 24.
The tour finishes at Perth’s Regal Theatre from January 28 to 31.
