Viking will showcase Egypt in a new five-part Explore TV series as renewed interest continues to drive demand for Nile cruising.
Hosted by Trevor Cochrane, the series follows Viking’s popular Pharaohs & Pyramids itinerary, showcasing some of the region’s most famous ancient sites and cultural experiences.
Accompanied by Viking’s expert Egyptologists, Cochrane journeys along the Nile aboard Viking Amun, offering viewers a deeper understanding of the history, culture and stories behind destinations including the Pyramids of Giza, Karnak Temple, the Valley of the Kings and Abu Simbel.
He then continues into Jordan on one of Viking’s most popular post-voyage extensions, where he visits the Dead Sea, Mount Nebo, the ancient city of Petra and the remarkably preserved Roman ruins of Jerash.
Michelle Black, Viking Managing Director ANZ, said the series comes at a time of renewed interest in Egypt among Australasian travellers.
“The series offers viewers a glimpse into what makes a journey along the Nile so special,” said Ms Black.
“With just 82 guests aboard our purpose-built ships, we’re able to create a more intimate and seamless experience on the river.
“Combined with the knowledge and storytelling of our expert Egyptologists, that smaller scale allows guests to explore Egypt in a way that feels unhurried, enriching and genuinely connected to place.
“It captures the moments, insights and experiences that make Egypt, and our Jordan extension, so memorable.”
Viewers will also have the chance to win a 12-day Pharaohs & Pyramids voyage for two.
The series will air on Channel 9 at 4:30pm (AEST) every Sunday from October 18 to November 15.
