Award-winning Taiwanese carrier STARLUX Airlines is launching direct flights between Australia and Taipei from 2027.
Sydney will be the first Australian airport to welcome STARLUX, which launched in 2020 and has earned a Skytrax Five-Star Airline rating for the second consecutive year.
“This new partnership reflects the continued demand for premium travel experiences and reinforces the importance of Sydney Airport as a key global aviation hub,” said Scott Charlton, Sydney Airport CEO.
Glenn Chai, STARLUX Airlines CEO, said Sydney was one of the world’s great gateway cities.
“This new route will strengthen links between Australia and Taiwan, while providing customers with seamless connections through Taipei to destinations across Asia and beyond,” Mr Chai said.
Taiwan is one of Sydney’s fastest-growing travel markets, with passenger numbers growing 18 per cent in 2025 to almost 194,000 passengers.
The route also provides Sydney travellers with convenient onward connections to Europe, Japan and the United States via Taipei.
Flight schedules are currently being finalised, with further details to be announced shortly.
