A new 87-night grand voyage will combine the Amazon River and Antarctic Peninsula in 2028, travelling through 28 destinations across 17 countries.
The roundtrip sailing from Southampton will depart January 5, 2028, aboard Borealis, the 1,360 guest ship operated by Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines.
The itinerary begins with calls in the Canary Islands, Central America and the Caribbean before Borealis enters the Amazon for a 10-day journey covering around 1,500 kilometres to Manaus.
Stops along the river will provide opportunities to explore the surrounding rainforest, wildlife and local communities before the ship continues south to Rio de Janeiro and Argentina.
The voyage then rounds Cape Horn before spending three days cruising the Antarctic Peninsula, with opportunities to see glaciers and wildlife including penguins, seals and whales.
On the return journey, Borealis will visit the Falkland Islands and Buenos Aires before crossing the Atlantic via Cape Verde and Spain.
Joe O’Sullivan, Cruise Traveller Managing Director, said the ship’s smaller scale was suited to travellers looking to spend more time experiencing the journey itself.

The 87-night voyage is priced from £16,099 (approx. $AU30,678) per person twin share in an oceanview cabin. Special pricing is available for bookings made by June 30, 2027, subject to availability.
