Azamara Cruises has long carved out a loyal following among travellers who believe the journey should linger long after the ship has docked.

Now, the small-ship cruise line synonymous with Destination Immersion is taking that philosophy firmly ashore, announcing the relaunch of Azamara Ashore, a refreshed suite of land programs designed to deepen the connection with some of the world’s most compelling destinations.

Recently reintroduced, Azamara Ashore extends the cruise experience beyond the voyage itself, inviting guests to explore further and more meaningfully both before and after they set sail.

It’s a natural evolution for a brand built on Extended Destination Days and unhurried travel – one that recognises that true immersion often begins, or continues, on land.

“At Azamara, every journey is designed to be more than a passing visit—it’s an opportunity to truly connect with the places visited and the people who call them home,” said Dondra Ritzenthaler, CEO of Azamara Cruises.

“The relaunch of Azamara Ashore is a direct response to what guests have been asking for: deeper, more immersive experiences that allow them to spend more time in each destination and engage with it in a more natural, unhurried way.”

Between 2026 and 2028, Azamara will roll out 17 new pre- and post-cruise land programs (six debuting in 2026 alone) bringing its global portfolio to 84 core offerings across Africa, Oceania, Asia, Europe and the Americas.

Notably, 37 of these experiences are fully unique to Azamara, curated exclusively for its guests and unavailable elsewhere.

The programs are designed to slot seamlessly around a cruise, removing the logistical friction that often comes with independent travel.

Hotel Stays simplify arrivals and departures, with transfers and planning handled end-to-end.

City Stays invite guests to linger for two nights in cultural capitals and turn ports around the world, while the brand’s signature AzAmazing Journeys extend the experience over three to six nights, unlocking deeper access to bucket-list destinations through local cuisine, cultural exchange and immersive encounters.

Among the standout offerings is a collaboration with Micato Safaris that pairs Victoria Falls and Chobe National Park with a cruise through southern Africa.

Guests travel from Zimbabwe into Botswana to witness one of the world’s great natural wonders before embarking on luxury game drives through Chobe, an experience that seamlessly blends wildlife, landscape and comfort beyond the sea.

In South America, Machu Picchu, Cusco and the Sacred Valley take centre stage in partnership with Coltur Peru.

Travellers engage with master artisans and custodians of Andean tradition before culminating their journey aboard the iconic Hiram Bingham train. World-class dining, an open bar and panoramic views elevate the rail journey into an experience worthy of the citadel it serves.

Turkey’s otherworldly landscapes are explored through Wondrous Cappadocia, curated with Tura Turizm. Carefully selected hotels place guests close to Istanbul’s cultural heart – Hagia Sophia and the Grand Bazaar – before moving into Cappadocia’s dramatic valleys.

Here, small-group access, artisan encounters and premium cave-style accommodations deliver an intimate sense of place that feels both ancient and indulgent.

New for 2026, Azamara has also partnered with luggage-shipping specialist Ship&Play, addressing one of modern travel’s persistent pain points.

Guests can now send bags door-to-door (from home or a trusted carrier) directly to their stateroom or hotel, supported by a dedicated seven-day cruise concierge team. For those booking an AzAmazing Journey or City Stay, a $US50 per person luggage voucher adds an extra incentive to travel light and stress-free.

Together, these enhancements underscore Azamara’s commitment to slow, meaningful exploration, where time is a luxury and depth matters more than distance covered. It’s a model that resonates strongly with experienced travellers seeking cultural richness without the rush.

Looking ahead, the relaunch of Azamara Ashore also signals a broader period of renewal for the brand. Rounding out the guest experience, Azamara has confirmed a major refurbishment program across its fleet, scheduled to commence in late 2026.

The upgrade will further elevate onboard spaces to complement the richer, more immersive journeys unfolding on land, ensuring that from stateroom to savannah, and from ship to sacred site, the Azamara experience continues to evolve with its guests at heart.
