European Waterways has appointed marketing and communications consultancy Helm as its public relations partner across Australia and New Zealand, reinforcing the brand’s presence in the region amid growing demand for slower, experience-led luxury travel.
Paul Newman, European Waterways Marketing Manager, said the appointment was a natural fit.
“The Helm team has a longstanding connection with Europe and has spent years championing the kind of slow, immersive travel that European Waterways delivers so beautifully,” Mr Newman said.
Founded in 1974, European Waterways is Europe’s largest luxury hotel barging company, operating a fleet of 18 intimate barges carrying between six and 20 guests through some of the continent’s most storied inland waterways. With a crew to passenger ratio of one to two, the company offers a highly personalised alternative to traditional cruising, combining gourmet dining, fine regional wines and privately guided excursions through medieval villages, historic towns and spectacular countryside.

Highlights for 2026/27 include a new Hidden Heart of France itinerary aboard L’Art de Vivre, exploring the upper reaches of the Nivernais Canal and the Morvan Hills in Burgundy. The Canal du Midi itinerary aboard Anjodi in southern France, as featured on Rick Stein’s French Odyssey, combines leisurely cruising with a traditional truffle hunt and visits to Carcassonne. The Bordeaux and Gascony itinerary aboard Rosa takes guests through Saint-Emilion wine estates and medieval châteaux. The Scottish Highlander itinerary cruises the legendary Caledonian Canal and Loch Ness, visiting Eilean Donan Castle, Culloden Moor and renowned whisky distilleries.
