Expedition cruising is in focus this week as Cruise Lines International Association highlights the sector’s growing range of voyages to remote destinations as part of its annual Cruise Month campaign.
Running under the #LoveCruise banner, Cruise Month features four weekly themes covering ocean, river, expedition and luxury cruising, with Expedition Week forming the third stage of the campaign.
Joel Katz, CLIA Executive Director Australasia, said demand for expedition voyages continues to grow alongside investment in purpose-built exploration ships.
“Expedition cruising is one of the most exciting growth areas in our industry and the number of people taking these voyages has been increasing year after year,” Mr Katz said.
“There is enormous global interest in discovering pristine destinations in some of the world’s most remote corners and the global expedition cruise fleet is growing steadily to meet the demand.”
The campaign is also highlighting the role of cruise specialist travel agents, encouraging travellers to seek advice from CLIA-certified advisors when planning expedition and other cruise holidays.
CLIA-certified travel agents have been provided with a Cruise Month toolkit featuring promotional material and current opportunities from participating cruise lines, supported by a wider social media campaign across Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
