Fiji Airways has launched its first ever direct service between Gold Coast Airport and Nadi, with the inaugural flight touching down at 11:30am on June 11, carrying Fiji Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka among its distinguished guests.

Paul Scurrah, Fiji Airways Managing Director and CEO, said demand since the route was announced had been exceptional.

“The Gold Coast shares Fiji’s warmth, energy and spirit of adventure. Since announcing this route, demand has been exceptional with strong forward bookings and today that excitement finally becomes a reality,” Mr Scurrah said.

The service operates three times weekly on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays aboard a Boeing 737 MAX 8 with eight business class seats and 162 economy seats, adding more than 53,000 seats annually to the market. The flight from Gold Coast to Nadi takes three hours and 25 minutes.

The Gold Coast becomes Fiji Airways’ seventh Australian destination, joining Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Cairns and Canberra. The route also opens one-stop connections through Nadi to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver, Honolulu, Singapore, Tokyo, Hong Kong and key Pacific Island destinations.

Amelia Evans, Queensland Airports Limited CEO, said the route was particularly significant ahead of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, when Gold Coast Airport would play an important role as an international gateway.

To celebrate the launch, Fiji Airways is offering return Economy fares from $599 on sale until June 14, for travel until May 15, 2027.
