AmaWaterways has unveiled the first details and images of its highly anticipated second double-width river ship scheduled to debut on the Danube River early in 2027.
Building on the groundbreaking design of AmaMagna, which launched in 2019, AmaRudi will stand alongside its sister ship as the largest river cruise ship in Europe.
Designed to accommodate just 196 guests in 98 staterooms and suites, the new vessel will offer extensive personal space, multiple dining venues, expansive wellness amenities and thoughtfully designed public spaces inspired by the destinations along the Danube.
AmaRudi is the first vessel in the company’s history named after a man, honouring co-founder Rudi Schreiner.
Born and raised near Austria’s Danube River, Schreiner spent his childhood exploring the very river that will become AmaRudi’s home.
“AmaMagna changed what travellers believed was possible on a river cruise ship,” said Mr Schreiner, co-founder and Chairman of AmaWaterways.
“We knew there would be a right time to revisit that concept and with river cruising continuing to grow, that time is now.
“More travellers are making the transition from ocean cruising to rivers and many are looking for a sense of space and choice.
“AmaMagna was one of the most rewarding projects of my career, so having this new ship carry my name makes it especially meaningful. I see it as part of the legacy we have built together over more than two decades of river cruising.”
The design concept for AmaRudi blends contemporary elegance, exceptional comfort and subtle historical references inspired by the cities and cultures found along the Danube River.
While building on the spacious double-width design first introduced with AmaMagna, the ship will debut several new features and guest experiences.
Culinary Experiences
Dining will be at the heart of the AmaRudi experience, with multiple venues ranging from the Journey’s Restaurant and The Chef’s Table specialty restaurant to al fresco dining experiences and the intimate Rudi’s Wine Bar, a welcoming gathering place inspired by Schreiner’s passion for wine and European culture.
Wellness & Recreation
Guests will have access to an expansive wellness area featuring massage treatment rooms, hair and nail services, a state-of-the-art fitness centre and dedicated spaces for relaxation. The Sun Deck will also feature a full-sized pickleball court.
Entertainment
AmaRudi will introduce an entirely new entertainment concept created exclusively for the ship. Designed as a vibrant social hub, the versatile venue will feature a cinema, karaoke, billiards and a jukebox, while thoughtful soundproofing ensures guest comfort throughout the vessel.
AmaRudi will operate some of AmaWaterways’ most popular Danube itineraries. Additional details regarding accommodations, onboard experiences and booking information will be announced in the coming months.
