MSC Cruises’ newest flagship has completed its final sea trials ahead of delivery in November.
MSC World Asia underwent testing in the Atlantic off the west coast of France, covering engines, manoeuvrability, fuel efficiency, safety systems, speed and stopping distances. The ship completed its first sea trials in July.
The vessel is scheduled for delivery on November 25 before an official naming ceremony in Le Havre, France, on November 28. Its first passenger voyage will depart Barcelona on December 4.
The 22-deck ship will become the cruise line’s 24th vessel and the third LNG powered World Class ship. It will accommodate up to 6,764 guests across 2,614 cabins.
Onboard facilities will include more than 40 restaurants, bars and lounges, alongside entertainment and family venues. One of the main attractions will be The Spiral @ Tree of Life, an 81 metre dry slide extending across 12 decks.
Design elements influenced by Asian culture will also feature throughout the ship, including a 12-metre long dragon sculpture suspended above the World Promenade.
MSC World Asia will operate seven night Mediterranean itineraries calling at Barcelona, Marseille, Genoa, Civitavecchia, Messina and Valletta, with embarkation available in each port.
