A new 80-room hotel has opened on Fitzroy Street in St Kilda following a multi-million dollar redevelopment, adding new accommodation, rooftop and event space to the Melbourne bayside precinct.

Novotel St Kilda features newly built rooms and suites across single, double, family and interconnecting configurations, with interiors drawing on the area’s coastal setting.

The property includes a level five rooftop with views across Port Phillip Bay and Melbourne’s skyline and capacity for up to 150 guests.

A purpose built ballroom can accommodate up to 120 people, while a boardroom with a private courtyard caters to smaller events.

Ricky Jeffs, ERDI CEO, said the redevelopment was designed to create a property more closely connected with the surrounding neighbourhood.

“Our vision has been to completely reimagine the hotel and create an experience that feels connected to the character, energy and lifestyle of St Kilda,” Mr Jeffs said.

Other additions include an internal garden atrium, self check in, secure parking and a new all day restaurant and bar.

Guest rooms feature 75 inch televisions, Nespresso machines and locally sourced minibar products, with bathtubs available in selected rooms.

The opening forms part of wider investment along Fitzroy Street, where ERDI, Fortis, Ondas and the City of Port Phillip are collectively investing more than $196 million in new developments and precinct improvements.

Christos Pavlidis, Novotel St Kilda General Manager, said the aim was to position the property as part of the local community rather than simply as accommodation.

“St Kilda is an incredibly strong destination in its own right and we have an opportunity to create a hotel that feels like part of that community, not just a place to stay,” Mr Pavlidis said.
