Intrepid Travel has introduced three new Women’s Expeditions in Peru, Cambodia and Bhutan, broadening its collection of women-only tours designed and led by women. The new trips, ranging from eight to eleven days, focus on authentic cultural exchange while supporting women-owned businesses and breaking down gender barriers in tourism.
Designed specifically for women, these journeys offer travellers meaningful opportunities to engage with local communities and learn about the daily lives of women in each destination.

In Peru, participants can embark on an eight-day journey through the Andes, hiking a quieter route from Chinchero to Urquillos alongside an all-female crew. The Cambodia itinerary features a street food tour in Phnom Penh run by TukTuk Srey, an enterprise that employs female drivers. In Bhutan, an eleven-day tour combines trekking through the Himalayas with visits to women-operated farms, including a traditional hot stone bath experience at the Tshering Farmhouse.
The expansion follows rising interest in travel experiences that foster connection and community among women. Women account for more than half of Intrepid’s travellers, and participation in the company’s Women’s Expeditions grew by 32 percent last year, with most travellers joining solo. The new itineraries continue Intrepid’s approach of creating female-led spaces where local stories and perspectives take centre stage.
Erika Kritikides, Intrepid’s General Manager of Experiences, said the company is focusing on destinations where tourism can contribute positively to gender equality. “When women are empowered, it creates a ripple effect within the community,” she said, noting that the latest trips are designed to highlight women’s roles in tourism while promoting inclusivity across the sector.
With the addition of the new adventures, Intrepid’s Women’s Expedition range now includes eight itineraries across the globe, with existing tours in India, Morocco, Nepal, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. The company aims to increase the proportion of women among its trip leaders from 36 to 40 percent by 2030 and continues to build partnerships that expand opportunities for women in tourism.
Departures for the new Women’s Expeditions begin in September 2026. Further details are available on Intrepid Travel’s website at intrepidtravel.com/womens-expeditions.
