A Japanese luxury cruise line will visit Australia for the first time in February 2027, with Mitsui Ocean Fuji scheduled to make an overnight call in Cairns during a new Circle Pacific voyage.
The 458 guest, all suite ship will arrive in Cairns on February 14 as part of a 46 night round trip sailing from Yokohama. The itinerary also includes Fiji, Samoa, Vanuatu, Tahiti, the Marshall Islands, Northern Mariana Islands, Guam and the Federated States of Micronesia.
Cruise Traveller, Mitsui Ocean Cruises’ Australian representative, has released four sectors specifically for the local market, including a 34 night Cairns to Japan voyage departing February 15.
Other options include 25 nights from Japan to Tahiti from February 3, 21 nights from Tahiti to Japan from February 28 and the complete 46 night itinerary from Yokohama.
Formerly Seabourn Odyssey, Mitsui Ocean Fuji offers ocean views from every suite, with 90% of accommodation featuring a private balcony. Facilities include Japanese dining, lounges, a theatre, wellness centre, pool and jacuzzis.
Joe O’Sullivan, Cruise Traveller Managing Director, said the product would give Australian travellers a different way to experience the Pacific with a stronger Japanese service focus.

Reduced twin share fares for Australian travellers start from $16,210 per person for the 21 night Tahiti to Japan sector, while the 25 night Japan to Tahiti voyage starts from $19,300 per person.
The 34 night Cairns to Japan sailing is priced from $26,240 per person, while the full 46 night round trip itinerary starts from $44,370 per person. Selected onboard beverages, gratuities and Wi-Fi are included.
