A new collection of 25 Antarctic expeditions will give travellers more choice over how they cross the Drake Passage.

Options include flying one way and sailing the other, flying in both directions or completing the journey entirely by sea.

Atlas Ocean Voyages will operate the program from October 2028 to March 2029 aboard World Navigator and World Traveller, both carrying fewer than 200 guests. Voyages range from nine to 19 nights, with fares starting from $US12,998 (approx. $AU18,680) per person twin share.

Four itineraries combine a one-way flight across the Drake with a sailing in the opposite direction, while two programs fly both ways to maximise time around the Antarctic Peninsula.

Longer departures of 13 to 19 nights will also venture further south or include South Georgia and the Falkland Islands.

Each expedition includes a pre-cruise hotel night in Buenos Aires and return charter flights to Ushuaia, where the voyages depart. Zodiac outings, shore excursions, onboard beverages, gratuities, a polar plunge and an Atlas parka and vest are also included.

Optional activities include kayaking among icebergs and wildlife, as well as overnight camping ashore.

Joe O’Sullivan, Cruise Traveller Managing Director, said the new program was designed to offer more flexibility for travellers heading to Antarctica.

“For most people, Antarctica is the pinnacle of expedition travel and in 2028/29, Atlas Ocean Voyages will offer unparalleled opportunities to experience this wild and pristine place,” Mr O’Sullivan said.

Cruise Traveller is also offering an air credit of up to $US2,000 (approx. $AU2,800) per twin stateroom for eligible Australian bookings made by January 5, 2027.
