Canberra’s accommodation market has expanded with the opening of a new 126-key apartment hotel in Dickson, more than doubling Quest Apartment Hotels’ footprint in the capital.
Quest Canberra Dickson opens following the conversion of the former Adina Serviced Apartments Canberra Dickson.
It becomes the brand’s third Canberra property, joining Quest Canberra and Quest Canberra City Walk.
The three properties now offer 247 rooms and apartments across Canberra, with accommodation aimed at corporate and government travellers, project teams, relocating employees, families and leisure visitors.
Andrew Barr MLA, ACT Chief Minister, said the opening reflected continued confidence in Canberra’s visitor economy.
“This expansion is a strong vote of confidence in our city and its future, reflecting growing demand from business travellers, event delegates and tourists who continue to choose Canberra as a destination,” Mr Barr said.
The opening represents the first stage of the property’s conversion, with initial works including painting, carpet improvements, repairs, new signage and the introduction of a grab and go pantry. A broader refurbishment of apartments and public areas will follow.
Accommodation ranges from guest rooms and studios to one- and two-bedroom apartments, with selected rooms offering kitchens, laundries, living and working areas and private balconies. Parking and complimentary Wi-Fi are also available.
David Mansfield, The Ascott Limited Australasia Managing Director, said the additional property reflected the changing mix of visitors coming to Canberra.
“Canberra is no longer a one-night or one-purpose city. People come for government, business, major projects, education and events, but increasingly stay for its food, culture, nature and distinctive neighbourhoods,” Mr Mansfield said.
Located around two kilometres from the CBD and 500 metres from the Dickson dining precinct, the property is connected to central Canberra by light rail and bus services and provides access to Braddon, the Australian War Memorial, Parliament House and other major attractions.
The conversion forms part of a broader expansion program that also includes the recently opened Quest Southport and forthcoming properties in Goulburn North and Brisbane’s Wickham Terrace.
Quest currently operates more than 160 properties across Australia, New Zealand and Fiji and is targeting a network of 200 properties by 2030, with conversions expected to complement new developments as the portfolio grows.
