One of Australia’s most character‑rich boutique stays has entered an exciting new chapter under new ownership.
The 12-room Glasshouse Mountains Ecolodge in the heart of the Sunshine Coast in Queensland has been taken over by Chris Pires.
Mr Pires believes the property’s connection with nature and its distinctive range of accommodation makes it the perfect place to disconnect from the stresses of life and reconnect with family and friends.
“In an era where travellers value experiences and authenticity, we offer a ‘one of a kind’ stay on the Sunshine Coast,” said Mr Pires.
“We’ve invested in upgrades to the rooms and the gardens, which features a coffee plantation and some 60 fruit trees.
“We also have bushtucker plants that highlight our connection with Kabi Kabi Country, the traditional owners of this extraordinary landscape.”
Accommodation options include restored Victorian and Queensland state train carriages featuring kitchenettes; a spacious converted historic church, garden bungalows and forest family rooms that can sleep up to four.
“From restored train carriages to a beautifully converted church and a games carriage filled with books and old-school entertainment, we have created a chilled-out environment where everybody from couples and wedding groups through to families and international visitors can enjoy something special,” added Mr Pires.
““For families who want their children to get off their devices and reconnect with nature, we are set up perfectly.
“They can explore the wild in our backyard and then head down to the Irwin’s backyard at Australia Zoo, just 10 minutes away, where there’s a world of extraordinary nature in one site.”
Mr Pires said that the unique nature of Glasshouse Mountains Ecolodge has already led to multi-generational family groups, special interest groups and wedding parties to book out the whole retreat for a really special experience.
