Intrepid Travel has launched more than 80 new trips for 2027, expanding on its existing collection of small group adventures. Spread across more than 30 countries, the new itineraries are focused on getting travellers off the beaten path.
It comes just weeks after the release of Intrepid’s 2027 Not Hot List, which spotlights 10 under-the-radar destinations to explore in 2027. Developed using insights from Intrepid’s extensive global network of local leaders and destination experts, the list aims to combat over-tourism in the world’s busiest places, while spreading the positive impact of travel into lesser-visited regions.
And for travellers ready to get started, there’s good news: many of Intrepid’s new trips visit destinations featured on the Not Hot List. Like Hike Sri Lanka’s Pekoe Trail, which takes passengers into the island’s central highlands to hike six standout sections of the new long-distance hiking track, which came in at number seven on the Not Hot List.
Ushguli, Georgia
Another active adventure, Georgia: Trekking the Transcaucasian Trail, traces a classic section of this trail from Mestia (an alpine town that took out second place on the list) to Ushguli, with stops at local guesthouses for home-cooked feasts.
New Intrepid trips are released after months of analysis, with product designers considering the latest available research and market demand. These trips are no different, with each of the 60+ new itineraries designed to fill gaps in the market, showcase lesser-known destinations and offer fresh perspectives on familiar places.
Erica Kritikides, Intrepid’s General Manager of Experiences said:
‘We’re seeing travellers look for something a little different from their holidays – less ticking things off a list and more time to actually discover a place. That’s what we’ve kept in mind with our new trips. You get the ease of having the big things taken care of, but there’s still plenty of free time to explore, follow your curiosity and make the trip your own. It could be kayaking through Greenland, discovering Jordan’s northern highlands or seeing the Maldives beyond its beaches. There’s something really exciting about taking a chance on somewhere you might not have considered before, stepping off the beaten path and seeing where it takes you. That sense of discovery is what we want people to feel when they travel with us,’ said Kritikides.
Within the new collection are 27 hero trips that focus on new destinations, uncommon encounters and experiences that Intrepid’s product managers are particularly excited about.
Take Hiking in Picos de Europa, on which travellers spend seven days trekking along the lesser-known Iberian Peninsula, refuelling with mountain-style cuisine and panoramic mountain views.
Or Premium Norwegian Fjords, which sees travellers set crab pots and learn about life in a Nordic fishing village before unwinding at a Feature Stay in Knutholmen – complete with a floating sauna.
For those seeking a new take on a beloved destination, Jordan Uncovered takes guests beyond the famous highlights and into the northern highlands. Travellers will meet beekeepers, artisans, shepherds and cheesemakers as they engage in community-based experiences to uncover a more local side of the country.
And for travellers wanting to keep it close to home, Best of Tasmania will showcase the Apple Isle’s lesser-known magic, as well as a stay at Edge of the Bay, a Stay Intrepid property. Falling under the Intrepid umbrella, Stay Intrepid is a collection of hyper-local, experience-rich stays designed to connect guests to the culture and community at the core of a place.
These new trips join Intrepid’s already strong line-up of small group adventures, with 1000s of experiences in over 100 countries. From family trips to Women’s Expeditions and Premium adventures, there’s something to suit every kind of traveller.
Departures for Intrepid’s new trips begin in January 2027. Further details are available on the Intrepid Agent Hub or via the Intrepid website.
