Oceania Cruises has ordered a fifth Sonata Class ship from Fincantieri, locking in delivery for 2037 and signalling surging global demand for its next-generation fleet.

The announcement follows record-breaking launch day sales for Oceania Sonata in January and reinforces the brand’s expansion strategy focused on more space, more choice and elevated serenity at sea.

Debuting in August 2027, the Sonata Class will deliver one-third more space than previous vessels, new suite categories and reimagined top-deck residences. Culinary innovation will also take centre stage, including La Table par Maîtres Cuisiniers de France — the first collaboration at sea with the prestigious French culinary association — and Nikkei Kitchen, celebrating the fusion of Peruvian flavours and refined Japanese technique.

Sister ship Oceania Arietta is set to open for sale in 2027, continuing the brand’s refined, adults-only positioning and destination-rich programming.

Oceania Sonata’s inaugural season will span Europe and the Caribbean, featuring marquee ports including Rome (Civitavecchia), Barcelona, Athens (Piraeus), Bermuda and a daylight Panama Canal transit — marking a bold new chapter for the luxury line.
