A major hotel group has been named Official Hotel Partner of Men’s Rugby World Cup 2027, with the tournament expected to drive significant accommodation demand across Australia’s seven host cities.
IHG Hotels & Resorts will support teams, officials and travelling fans throughout the six-week tournament, which runs from October 1 to November 13, 2027, and will feature 24 teams competing across 52 matches.
The partnership will also extend to IHG One Rewards members, with the hotel group planning to use its loyalty platform and Australian hotel network to create additional experiences around the tournament.
Kenneth Macpherson, IHG Hotels & Resorts Chief Executive Officer Europe, Middle East, Asia and Africa, said the event represented a significant opportunity for the accommodation sector.
“Men’s Rugby World Cup 2027 will bring teams and fans from around the world to Australia, driving significant accommodation demand in the host market,” Mr Macpherson said.
The agreement builds on IHG’s existing rugby partnerships, which include Rugby Australia, SANZAAR, Six Nations Rugby and the British & Irish Lions Tour to Australia in 2025.
Michel Poussau, World Rugby Chief Revenue Officer, said the partnership would support the tournament experience from the planning stage through to arrival in Australia.
“From the moment fans begin planning their journey, through to the 24 teams, match officials and guests arriving in Australia, the partnership with IHG will help take the Rugby World Cup experience to the next level,” Mr Poussau said.
Men’s Rugby World Cup 2027 will be the largest edition of the tournament to date, with the expanded 24 team format staged across seven Australian host cities.
