A new luxury resort will open in Bora Bora in late 2027 following the extensive transformation of the former InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa.
The property will reopen as Regent Bora Bora, marking the brand’s debut in French Polynesia. The resort closed on June 1 for renovations and will feature 84 overwater villas on a private motu overlooking Mount Otemanu.
Guests will have direct access to the lagoon, with the redevelopment introducing updated accommodation, dining and service concepts while retaining a strong connection to Polynesian culture and the surrounding environment.
Rajit Sukumaran, IHG Hotels & Resorts Senior Vice President and Managing Director East Asia & Pacific, said the project would build on the long-standing partnership with Pacific Beachcomber.
“Together with our long-standing partner Pacific Beachcomber, we have an exceptional opportunity to transform this remarkable resort while preserving the natural beauty, Polynesian character and sense of place that make it so special,” Mr Sukumaran said.
The resort will also introduce Regent brand elements including personal havens, Regent experience agents and the ‘With Compliments’ program of included guest services.
Rajit Sukumaran and Richard Bailey
Richard Bailey, Pacific Beachcomber Founder and Chairman, said the redevelopment would focus on creating a style of luxury suited to the destination.
“Bora Bora demands a very particular kind of luxury, one that respects the extraordinary natural environment and remains deeply connected to Polynesian culture,” Mr Bailey said.
Regent Bora Bora will join the brand’s existing properties in destinations including Hong Kong, Cannes, Bali, Santa Monica, Shanghai and Phu Quoc.
